THE COMMON SENSE DEPARTMENT

WITH RON, DAVE & BILL

Welcome to The Common Sense Department—where Ron, Dave and Bill take the week’s political insanity, strip away the talking points, and ask the questions regular people are already asking.

No party gets a free pass.

No spin required.

Just three guys looking at the headlines and asking:

DOES ANY OF THIS ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE?

WHY CHANGE MAIL-BALLOT RULES AFTER VOTING BEGINS?

With an election approaching and ballots already entering the system, new fights are erupting over mail-ballot procedures.

Whatever side you’re on, the common-sense question is simple:

Why change the rules once the process is already underway?

WHO REALLY PAYS U.S.–CANADA TARIFFS?

Washington and Canada can slap tariffs on each other all day—but governments aren’t the only ones paying the price.

Businesses import the products.

Companies absorb or pass along the costs.

Consumers eventually see those costs at the register.

So when politicians say they’re making another country “pay,” who actually gets the bill?

IF WE’RE BOMBING EACH OTHER, WHY ISN’T IT A WAR?

American and Iranian forces continue exchanging attacks while officials argue over what terminology should describe the conflict.

Forget the political vocabulary for a minute.

If two countries are repeatedly attacking each other with military force, at what point does common sense say we’re at war?

WHY TREAT ONE STRANGE JOBS REPORT AS TRUTH?

Politicians love economic statistics when the numbers support their argument—and question them when they don’t.

But employment reports are estimates. They get revised. Individual sectors can distort the headline number.

So why does Washington repeatedly treat one month’s preliminary number like the final verdict on the entire economy?

HOW IS CLEAN WATER NOT A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT?

A federal appeals court ruling has triggered outrage after concluding that the Constitution does not establish a fundamental right to clean drinking water.

That doesn’t mean America’s existing water-protection laws suddenly disappeared.

But it raises a remarkable question:

How can something as basic to human survival as safe drinking water not be considered a fundamental constitutional right?

AND MORE…

Because somehow, every week Washington manages to give The Common Sense Department another overflowing inbox.

Ron, Dave and Bill debate the stories, challenge each other’s assumptions, separate facts from political spin—and try to answer one question:

WHAT DOES COMMON SENSE SAY?
